Victoria Park in Bideford isn't just a park; it's a vibrant, well-loved cornerstone of the community that genuinely offers something special for every visitor. From its charming historical echoes to its fantastic modern amenities, it's clear why this park consistently earns top marks. Stepping into Victoria Park, you're immediately aware of its heritage. Opened in 1912, it carries a sense of timeless elegance. The grand entrance gates, a significant historical feature, welcome you into a space where the past subtly blends with the present. It's fascinating to discover the historical artifacts dotted around, like the cannons from the Spanish Armada surrounding the bandstand, a unique & intriguing touch. Even simple elements like the carefully maintained rose beds & the commemorative oak tree add layers of historical depth, making a simple stroll feel like a journey through Bideford's past. The children's play area at Victoria Park is nothing short of brilliant. It's clearly a high priority, with every piece of equipment looking bright, new and impeccably clean, a huge relief for parents. The variety is outstanding, catering to a wide range of ages. There are safe, engaging zones for toddlers, thrilling slides & climbing frames for older kids, and even a fantastic zip wire that's always a hit. The fenced-off sand play area is a clever addition, providing a different sensory experience. Most impressively, the inclusion of accessible equipment, like the wheelchair-friendly roundabout, truly makes it a playground for all children to enjoy. The quality of the toilet facilities often tells you a lot about a public space & Victoria Park excels here. They are consistently clean, well-maintained. & easily accessible, which is a massive plus when you're spending a day out with family. The availability of baby changing units and accessible facilities further highlights the park's commitment to accommodating everyone comfortably. During the warmer months, the outdoor paddling pool transforms the park into an even more exciting destination. It's a fantastic feature, providing a safe and refreshing space for children to cool off and splash around. It adds a wonderful dimension to the park's offerings, making it an ideal spot for a sunny day's adventure. Parking at Victoria Park is remarkably straightforward. The adjacent Riverbank car park provides ample space with both short and long-stay options. While there's a charge, the convenience of being right next to the park makes it entirely worthwhile. This ease of access ensures that your visit starts smoothly, without any unnecessary stress.

Love, love, love this park!!!! Every town should have a park as lovely as this. The old playground was good but the new one is even better and fabulous for children of different ages! We really liked the fact that there were boardgame-tables and table tennis here, too. When we last visited this park was place for a fairground. The little splash area is really nice for children on hot summer days. The sand in the sandpit is the cleanest sand I've ever seen in a playground. So much to see and do, so well thought out, from the plants to the enjoyment factor for the kids. Well done!

We had a quick visit to Victoria Park after popping into the local tourist information. The park has (surprisingly) a little outdoor pool which is fenced off. There is also some play areas as well as some green space as you would expect...! Nice place, and seemed fairly peaceful...!

There is parking, there is a children's playground, there is a small pool. There are toilets. There is plenty of space. It is a good place to meet. Good for a picnic but not a cookout or BBQ. Dogs must be kept on leads.

Such a beautiful park. I visited for the first time on Friday and the autumn colours are especially pretty at the moment. I loved the tulip tree and large oak tree ( grown from an acorn by school youngsters in 1905). The war memorial was also lovely. Well worth a visit though there is one area which needs drainage work done otherwise an immaculate and gorgeous pleasure garden.

Fantastic park, extremely well kept and perfect for children and adults alike! Has a shallow outdoor pool for the kids which is again well kept and a safe area for the children to play, inflatables optional ;) there are lots of trees to retreat from the sun and lots of well kept flower beds if that's your thing. Usually find a hockings ice cream van here and sometimes other food vendors. Large park with a museum/gallery/cafe/shop.
